TOTALENERGIES EP UGANDA AWARDS O-LEVEL SCHOLARSHIPS TO GIRLS IN BULIISA & NWOYA

  • TotalEnergies EP Uganda (TEPU) has awarded scholarships to ten (10) girls in Buliisa District and ten (10) girls in Nwoya District for the Ordinary (O) Level Education Girl’s scholarships program. This follows the widely publicized 2023 Call for Applications and conclusion of the selection exercise that was conducted in partnership with St. Andrea Kaahwa's College and Sacred Heart Secondary School in collaboration with the respective District Local Governments.

  • TEPU scholarships are merit-based, and the primary eligibility criteria is the candidates’ academic performance in the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE). Successful candidates for the O’ level scholarship program are supported to study at TEPU partner secondary schools that have a long track record of excellence. These include St. Andrea Kaahwa’s College in Hoima District and Sacred Heart Secondary School in Gulu District.

  • Since 2013, TEPU has invested in the education of 220 students in its host communities through two scholarship programs undertaken in partnership with selected schools, Non-Governmental Organizations, respective District Local Governments, and with support from the students’ parents and guardians. The scholarship programs include;
  1. The Girls’ Education Program for ‘O’ Level (Buliisa & Nwoya)
  2. The Local Education Program for both boys and girls in ‘A’ Level (Buliisa, Nwoya Pakwach & Masindi
  • .Some of the pioneer beneficiaries have successfully completed their studies and are working with reputable organizations such as the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, Coca Cola Uganda, and TEPU.

  • .Through the scholarship programs, students from the company’s host communities can access good education and the opportunity to qualify for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) academic courses at university and later join the pool of Ugandans working in the oil and gas industry and world class organizations. As such, the beneficiaries can effectively contribute to the sustainable development of Uganda.

  • .The scholarship programs are part of TEPU’s Corporate Social Responsibility, and they resonate with the company’s foundation Pillar of Education and Inclusion, as well as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals on Quality Education, Gender Equality, and Reduced Inequalities.
