TOTALENERGIES EP UGANDA ANNOUNCES TWO-YEAR SPONSORSHIP FOR UGANDA RUGBY 7S

Kampala, September 21, 2022 – TotalEnergies EP Uganda has today announced a two-year sponsorship for Uganda Rugby 7s men and women national teams. The annual sponsorship worth USD 15,000 (UGX 57 million) is aimed at facilitating the team’s training and development in line with TotalEnergies Foundation pillar of youth inclusion and education.

Speaking during the press conference held at Kyadondo Rugby Club, Mr. Jean Gavalda, Business, Development & Corporate Affairs Director, TotalEnergies EP Uganda said, “In a period of transition, children and young people represent our future and so they are our living heart.  TotalEnergies EP Uganda has committed to make a positive impact on livelihood. Participating to youth inclusion is one of our pillar toward that goal. Rugby is interesting as the team is above the individual, and in same time the team does not perform without individuals. Rugby is standing together and performing.

Supporting the Uganda Rugby Union is supporting the training and development of thousands of young. It is also demonstrating that with courage and time, they can succeed. Uganda Sevens is Africa Champions 2022 and so is an exemplary path for leadership among young people. Our sponsorship will be made towards women and men sevens teams who will promote the development and inclusion of youth thanks to sport values. Values that are shared by TotalEnergies EP Uganda: stand together, pioneer spirit, performance and safety”.

TotalEnergies is also the current official sponsor of the Rugby World Cup 2023 France. The partnership provides an opportunity for the company to present its broad energy profile to a wider audience and, through this ambition, strengthen ties with its stakeholders.

Mr. Godwin Kayangwe the President Uganda Rugby Union thanked TotalEnergies EP Uganda for the partnership. ‘This is a good beginning to a relationship we hope to grow, TotalEnergies has been a great supporter of Rugby Africa as witnessed in the recent RA championship held in France. The extension of this relationship locally is anticipated to have a great impact with the development of rugby in Uganda, Welcome aboard TotalEnergies’’
